Back to Article List County Library Hosts Lecture on Mapping Milkweed Habitat Project Release Date: July 01, 2011 The Cape May County Library invites the public to attend “Mapping Milkweed Habitat Project” presented by Sue Ann Slotterback on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at 6 p.m. The program will take place at the Main Branch of the Cape May County Library located at 30 E. Mechanic Street in Cape May Court House.      Sue Slotterback offers a citizen’s scientific approach to mapping milkweed habitats throughout Cape May County. The Milkweeds are the host plants on which Monarch butterflies lay their eggs. This project that started as an activity for students has grown into a scientific effort to map plant locations countywide using GPS and plotting points on an online mapping system that anyone can use.   For over thirty years, Slotterback has been a professional naturalist and outdoor education specialist for Girl Scouts, the Ocean Discovery Aquarium, the Philadelphia Zoo, the National Aquarium in Baltimore, the NJ Marine Sciences Consortium and NJ Audubon’s Nature Center of Cape May.   For more information call 463-6350 or visit www.cmclibrary.org .
