Biography:
Ralph E. Sheets, Jr., was elected freeholder in 1990. A graduate of Middle Township High School and former adjunct professor at Atlantic Community College, Sheets received his A.S. degree in Law Enforcement from Atlantic Community College and B.A. degree in Criminal Justice from Stockton State College.
Sheets retired as Chief of Police after 28 years of service with the Wildwood Police Department and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and later in the U.S. Army as a Military Policeman. A former mayor of the City of Wildwood, Sheets is a member of the Cape May County Association of Chiefs of Police, South Jersey Police Chiefs’ Association, NJ State Association of Chiefs of Police, Fraternal Order of Police, American Federation of Police, National Rifle Association, AARP, Cape May County Union League, South Jersey Freeholders’ Association, New Jersey Association of Counties, and American Legion Post 184.
Sheets is the 2007 President of Southern New Jersey Freeholders’ Association.
A proud father of eight children, Sheets has sixteen grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
