Cape May County Correctional Officers Graduate

Cape May Court House - Cape May County Sheriff Gary Schaffer announced the graduation of two correctional officers from the 19th Correction Academy Class at the Atlantic County Police Training Center. On May 7th Officer James McNulty and Officer Jenifer Wyers graduated from the program to become the latest New Jersey Police Training Commission certified officers to join the Sheriff’s Office Correctional Division.

Officer Wyers received the New Jersey Police Training Commission Merit Award, voted on by the recruits and given to the officer that they believe will be the best correctional officer from Class # 19.  Sheriff Schaffer said, “There is no greater recognition than to be honored by your peers as an outstanding officer and leader. Officer Wyers is to be commended and I anticipate a bright future for her in the correctional field.”

Officer McNulty received the Physical Fitness Award as the best overall physically conditioned officer in the class. Additionally, Officer McNulty received the Firearms Proficiency Award finishing first with a 99.4% average. He finished second in the class academically with a 95.99% average. “I offer sincere congratulations to Officer McNulty on his accomplishments. As a member of the New Jersey Police Training Commission and former academy director, I know what effort and dedication went into these accomplishments.  I expect great things from Officer McNulty in the future with our organization,” added Sheriff Schaffer.

Warden Donald Lombardo congratulated both officers on their achievement and their decision to assume this important responsibility. After completing a Field Training Officer Program, both officers will fill positions in the Cape May County Correctional Center that were vacant due to previous retirements.
