CAPE MAY COUNTY MOSQUITO CONTROL DEPARTMENT EMPLOYEE RECOGNIZED AS OUTSTANDING MOSQUITO WORKER
Cape May Court House – Freeholder Vice-Director Ralph E. Sheets, Jr. is proud to announce that Matthew C. Diem, Assistant Superintendent of the Cape May County Department of Mosquito Control was recognized by the New Jersey Mosquito Control Association, Inc. as an Outstanding Mosquito Worker.
Diem, of Rio Grande, was one of two employees in the Mosquito Control industry selected for the first time honor at the New Jersey Mosquito Control Worker’s Annual Recertification Training day held recently in Atlantic City. The purpose of the award is to recognize mosquito workers that go above and beyond yet are rarely recognized.
Diem worked as a Cape May County seasonal employee in 1999, 2000 and 2001 while attending Rutgers University. He became a full time county employee in 2002 and was promoted to Assistant Superintendent in 2008.
Peter J. Bosak PhD, Superintendent, Cape May County Department of Mosquito Control said, “Matt is a hard worker that can be found beside his men cleaning ditches, cutting brush or doing whatever is needed to get the job done. This year, Diem was acknowledged for his work on a rejuvenation project at the Stone Harbor Bird Sanctuary.”
Besides his work for the County, Diem assists local townships, the U.S. Coast Guard and U.S. Fish and Wildlife in their mosquito control efforts. Additionally, Diem can be found judging at school science fairs or speaking to organizations about mosquito control.
