Cape May Court House - Would you like to learn how to conserve rain water and minimize storm water run-off on your property? Are you concerned about the amount of water you are using to water your plants? If you have a downspout, then maybe a rain barrel is just the thing you need to get started.
As part of a grant from New Jersey American Water, Rutgers Environmental Resource Management Agent, Mike Haberland, will be giving a 2 hour, hands-on workshop on home water conservation and building a rain barrel on Saturday, July 10th from 10 a.m. until noon. The cost is $20.00 per barrel.
Participants will learn how to build their own rain barrel out of 55 gallon food grade barrels and will take home the completed rain barrel at the end of class. Also, participants are invited to join in follow-up activities, such as having their rain barrel checked by a Rutgers representative; helping with data collection to see how much water is being conserved; and more!
The class is being held at the Cape May County Mosquito Control Department Office, (mile marker 11.0 on Route 47) Cape May Court House, NJ, 08210
All who are willing to participate in the workshop and follow-up activities are welcome. Space is limited! Please register in advance by calling the RCE Office at (609) 465-5115, x 607 or email dtyndall@co.cape-may.nj.us.
