July 26, 2011- Cape May County Sheriff Gary Schaffer announced today the apprehension of delinquent parents in their bi-annual Child Support Warrant Sweep for the fiscal year 2011. The goal of the three-day intensive Non Support Sweep is to apprehend non-custodial parents who have failed to pay their court-ordered child support. Additional targets included parents who have failed to appear at court hearings to establish a child support order or order for medical support. Cape May County Sheriff’s Officers arrested a total of twenty eight persons, twenty five persons on non-support warrants for failure to pay child support payments ordered by the courts and three persons for warrants from municipal courts. Sheriff Schaffer said, “I want to commend the officers of the Sheriff’s Office, especially our ID Unit and warrants teams that participated in the state wide sweep. We continue to do everything possible to ensure court ordered child support payments are collected. We encourage the public to report to us the location of persons who they know are wanted to failure to make child support payments. Anonymous tips can be texted to our TIP411 hot line. See our web site www.cmcsheriff.net for information on forwarding tips.” The OCSS has commended both the Sheriffs’ Association of New Jersey and the Judiciary for collaboratively supporting the Sheriffs’ final procedures and data report for the Sheriff Child Support Warrant Sweep.
